Construction and Repair Consulting from AskUncleTim

Every engagement starts with listening. We learn what you’re trying to accomplish, what’s already been done, and where you feel stuck. From there we match you with the type of help that fits — a single conversation, a written plan, or ongoing guidance from start to finish.

Repair Services

Not sure where to start on a repair? We help you find the cause, not just the symptom, separate what’s urgent from what can wait, and lay out the fix step by step — including a materials list and an honest opinion on whether it’s a reasonable DIY job or one for a licensed trade.

Construction & Build Services

Tackling a new build or addition? We help you manage material acquisition, crew coordination and work schedules so trades show up in the right order, deliveries arrive when they’re needed, and change orders don’t quietly eat your budget.

DIY Coaching

Want to do it yourself but just need some advice? We walk you through the tools, techniques and safety steps, review your plan before you start, and stay available when the job throws you a surprise.

Contractor & Bid Review

Comparing quotes or worried about work already underway? We help you read bids line by line, spot gaps in scope, and understand what “done right” should look like before you sign or pay the next draw.

How an AskUncleTim Consultation Works

  1. Free first conversation. Tell us about your project by phone, Zoom or in person. There’s no charge and no obligation.
  2. Define the scope. Together we pin down what needs to happen, what can wait, and what success looks like for you.
  3. Build the plan. You get a clear sequence of steps, the materials and trades involved, and a realistic budget and timeline.
  4. Stay in the loop. As the work moves forward we’re available to answer questions, check progress and help you adjust — you always stay in charge and informed.

Common Questions About AskUncleTim Consulting

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. Your first consultation is free and there are no hidden fees. It’s a chance to talk through your project and see whether our guidance is a good fit before you commit to anything.

Can you help with a project that’s already started or stalled?

Absolutely. Lingering, incomplete projects and faulty builds are some of the most common reasons people call us. We assess where things stand, what was done right, what needs correcting, and map out a path to the finish.

Where do you work?

We can usually help with smaller projects in person around Ramsey and the greater Minneapolis area. Phone and Zoom consultations work from anywhere, and for the right project we’re willing to travel to most places in the USA.

Will consulting actually save me money?

Good planning is usually far cheaper than fixing mistakes. Knowing the right materials, the right order of work and what a fair price looks like helps you avoid rework, overbuying and surprise change orders.

Not sure which service fits your project?

Describe what you’re working on and we’ll point you in the right direction — the first consultation is on us.
